CHPC National Meeting 2013
Solving Industry Challenges Through HPC and Data Adoption
2 - 6 December 2013
Cape Town International Convention Centre
The Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC) has the pleasure of inviting you to the 2013 National Meeting to be held in Cape Town this year. We look forward to meeting with all our industry role-players and sharing new ideas and innovations in our industry.
This event aims to highlight the development of the CHPC within the national cyberinfrastructure intervention that is supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST). CHPC 2013 will explore the contributions and expectations of policy makers, research communities, information communication vendors, industry and academia through a series of contributed and invited papers, presentations and open discussion forums. This year's theme is in line with the centre's mission to resolve industry challenges through the adoption of HPC.
Both local and international stakeholders will have the opportunity to harness synergies in an effort to promote and appreciate the role of cyberinfrastructure in the advancement of science and engineering in South Africa. The importance of cyberinfrastructure will also be illustrated through a selection of successful research projects from different local and internationally reputable institutions. Furthermore, the CHPC will make use of this event to cultivate dialogues that are aimed at enhancing our service delivery and strengthening an integrated partnership amongst local and international stakeholders. It is our hope that through this interactive gathering, we can fully explore how research communities can take maximum advantage of this sizeable investment. I therefore encourage you to participate in this meeting, to share your knowledge, voice your opinions and provide your support in pursuit of harnessing a vibrant HPC ecosystem.
This year's national meeting will again be preceded by a series of preconference workshops/tutorials (2 and 3 December) that speak to the heart of HPC. Delegates are urged to register separately for the pre-conference workshops.
In 2012 the conference hosted South Africa's very first Student Cluster Competition on its exhibition floor. The team that won the national competition went on to represent the country at the International Supercomputing Conference in Leipzig, Germany and won first prize!!! Once again, the exhibition floor will host the 2013 Student Cluster Competition with a new batch of students from academic institutions around the country. It is our hope that the winning team will continue to fly the South African flag.
We look forward to seeing you in Cape Town!
